Alaskan Way Viaduct: Watch the Demolition on Saturday

Do you have a kid who is into demolitions and big construction vehicles? The Alaskan Way Viaduct is going down and you're invited to watch! The WSDOT is inviting the public to walk along the south end and watch as crews demolish large sections of the viaduct. So head to Seattle this weekend to watch a little history take place -- according to Greater Seattle on the Cheap you can even take home a little souvenir.

Where: Alaskan Way Viaduct between Alaskan Way South and First Avenue South, just north of the 1051 First Ave. S. building
When: Saturday, October 22: 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. walk the viaduct; 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. celebration event
Cost: Free!

Details: No RSVPs are required for the walk on the viaduct, but some restrictions apply. No pets or bicycles are allowed on the viaduct. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. The event will be ADA accessible. Be prepared for wind chill on the viaduct's top deck, and wear sturdy shoes.
