Baby and Me Storytime

A fun introduction to picture book and flannel board stories. Learn rhymes, songs, and movement activities for child and caregiver to do together. Your Local Market: Free Pancakes and Story Time Every Sunday

Have you been to Your Local Market in downtown Bellevue? I haven't but I want to check it out after seeing their event calendar and weekly ad.

One of the events that caught my eye was the free pancakes and sausages every Sunday morning. They also have story time, too. Sounds like a fun way to start a Sunday!

Bellevue University Book Store: Thursday Story Time

The University Book Store in Bellevue holds a weekly story time Thursdays at 11 a.m. for kids 3 to 7 years old. Join Carolyn for an hour of animated storytelling along with painting and drawing to stimulate their creative minds. Juice and cookies complete the fun morning.

The Mukilteo Library is hosting a Pajama Party on Saturday, January 21st at 6:30 p.m. It's an evening full of stories, songs, crafts, treats and a pajama fashion show. Wear your favorite pajamas and bring a sleeping bag and flashlight.

Play: Story Time at Mill Creek University Book Store

I had to get down to the bottom of the University Book Store Story Time/Top Pot donuts rumor once and for all. So I took the kids to Mill Creek Town Center this morning to do a little investigating. And it's good news! There are indeed Top Pot donuts served alongside story time!

The Good Stuff
The book store has a nice little area in the back of the store that they clear out for story time. They have chairs for the adults and floor space for the kids. When I saw them bring out the tray of donuts I thought, "Yippee!" And then, "Oh, no! Are they going to make these kids fidget and drool over those donuts while the stories are read?"

But these guys are pros. They handed out the pink and chocolate donuts (half-donuts actually) to the kids along with a little bottle of water before the stories started.

A book store employee read two books to the kids while they stuffed their faces with donuts.

The other kids may have been more polite. I didn't have a chance to look around. I was too busy trying to sneak bites of the boy's donut.

After the stories, the kids played and did some coloring. Finley stayed put until she finished her pretty pink barn. Then we played for a bit in the store and took a little walk around the town center.

Play, Stay Away or Just Okay
Hmmm... I wonder what rating I should give to a story time that includes delicious donuts. Perhaps, Play? Yes, Play!

I love that Mill Creek Town Center is 5 minutes from our house and that this story time is at 11 a.m. It's perfect for those days when we have a tough time getting out the door (which is pretty much every single day). The story time part of it is a bit short, but they had coloring and then there's the rest of the kid's section with books and toys to keep the kids busy. And if that isn't enough to tire your kids out, take a walk along the North Creek Trail or check out Reigning Imagination Toys.

After all that fun I had to wrestle a back-arching boy into his car seat. You know it's a fun outing when someone throws a fit about having to go home!

Bellevue Art & Frame: Paint Me A Story Fridays at 10 a.m.

Bring your kids to Bellevue Art & Frame and The Toy Place for story time and a little painting fun. Each week they will explore a different theme. And for every 6 sessions they participate in, they will receive a free Golden book.

Mill Creek University Book Store: Story Time Every Wednesday

The University Book Store in Mill Creek holds a weekly story time Wednesdays at 11 a.m. for kids 3 to 7 years old. Along with stories, the book store also provides activities and refreshments.

There are a few things I really like about this story time:

1. The close proximity to FROST
2. The very, very close proximity to Top Pot
3. The rumor going around that those refreshments the book store provides are in fact doughnuts from Top Pot

No need to worry. I will investigate this donut rumor story time and get back to you as soon as possible!

Just Okay: Santa Story Time at Redmond Town Center

I've been trying to find my Christmas spirit so I took my kids to Redmond Town Center this week for Story Time with Santa. I called beforehand to make sure it wasn't an outside activity since it's an outdoor mall (brrrr!). They told me it was inside Santa's house so it shouldn't be too cold.

When we got there, there were lots of other moms and dads waiting with their kids and one tiny, little Santa house. (Santa's not livin' large this year!) They opened doors around 11 and we all parked our strollers outside and tried to cram in. I think there were probably over 25 kids and parents in a pretty small space. Santa read two stories and then gave candy canes to all the kids.

Play, Stay Away or Just Okay
This was the first Santa story time I've been to, so I don't know for sure if there are better ones out there. But this one was Just Okay. The space was super small, though it could have been extra busy on the day we went. And Santa may have been photogenic, but he certainly wasn't the most animated storyteller I've ever heard.

If you're at Redmond Town Center on a Tuesday or a Thursday at 11, I would definitely stop by and listen to the stories and get a candy cane (this was probably the best part for my kids!). But if you live 20 - 30 minutes away like I do, I wouldn't make a special trip for it.

Pottery Barn Kids: Grinch Story Time
